Two

This week in Sociology we watched a TED talk about vulnerability. The part of the presentation that stood out the most to me was when the speaker talked about how when we numb, we numb everything, including the happy moments.  I had never thought about it that way before. When I considered the idea, I realized that I usually have more fun when I take risks and go out of my comfort zone. For instance, last year I asked a girl that I barely knew to sit at her lunch table. I was really nervous and uncomfortable because everyone at the table was a stranger to me. However, these people soon became some of my best friends. I could have "numbed" myself and sat with someone I knew better, but I wanted a change and wanted to meet new people. Of course there was a risk of other not liking me, but I'm glad I took the risk. The video we watched made me realize that being vulnerable isn't always a negative thing. A lot of good things can come out of being vulnerable. So hopefully I will be able to let go of myself and get the most out of Sociology.

Don't be scared to sit with someone new! I promise they won't be that mean to you.
